Google Discontinue Support For Microsoft Internet Explorer 6

Google have announced that they are phasing out support for Microsft Internet Explorer 6. As a result, anyone using their Google Applications will find functionality severely restricted from 1st March 2010. This move has most probibly been taken due to the recent security attacks undertaken on their network.

"Many other companies have already stopped supporting older browsers like Internet Explorer 6.0 as well as browsers that are not supported by their own manufacturers," said Rajen Sheth, Google Apps Senior Product Manager. "We’re also going to begin phasing out our support, starting with Google Docs and Google Sites. As a result you may find that from March 1 key functionality within these products - as well as new Docs and Sites features - won’t work properly in older browsers."

Clients that are currently running older versions of Internet Explorer are advised to upgrade their browser to at least Microsoft Internet Explorer 8. As an additional precaution, GiraffeDog.net recommend using either Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome as their day-to-day browser.
